Medfield Select Board sets override restoration priorities after a heated debate over cutting the weekend animal control officer. The board voted 3-0 to approve a ranked list of programs to restore if an FY27 override passes at the May 4 Town Meeting, with the on-call animal control position landing at the top. Police Chief Michelle Guerette said the service cost $28,580.71 in 2025 but could drop to about $18,114 under a tighter weekend-call policy; resident Catherine Thorp disputed the spreadsheet's savings estimate as overstated.
Gus Murby, who chaired the meeting, said "we have the hard decision to figure out what do we keep." The board also voted 3-0 to raise ambulance billing rates to the regional COMSTAR average plus 10 percent, to appoint Michael Gendron to the Planning Board, and to sign a $170,000 state-funded downtown facade-grant contract with Capital Strategic Solutions LLC.
