Select Board · Meeting of August 18, 2026
Medfield's Select Board signed a designer contract with Feingold Alexander Architects for the Dale Street Elementary School project and issued a parade permit for the town's 375th anniversary celebration. Building committee co-chair Carolyn Casey said the firm, chosen within a $1.5 million feasibility budget negotiated by project manager Jeff D'Amico, must produce design options by December 9, 2026, ahead of a planned February 2028 town funding vote. The board also approved $58,313.02 in second-round downtown facade grants, completing a $120,000 state earmark, and heard from parade committee chair Marion Bonoldi that volunteers have raised more than $140,000 from 125 donors for the October 17 parade, expected to draw up to 10,000 attendees.
"We are now on a really fast track pending approval tonight," Casey told the board. Member Gus Murby pressed summer intern Nikhil Kumar on governance implications of Kumar's recommendation to allow the Progress Pride flag, asking how the town would handle a competing request for a pro-life banner. The board also set rent at $2,600 for an affordable unit at 67 North Street and declared a retired fire engine surplus.
