MEDFIELD -- June 4, 2026, Medfield School Committee honors retiring educators and hears public complaint at June 4 meeting. The committee unanimously approved a consent agenda including $45,725 in donations, among them $43,725 from the Medfield Community Partnership for Education distributed across four school grants, and recognized eight retiring educators whose combined service exceeds 228 years, led by 37-year veteran Judy Brown. Superintendent John Marsden flagged that Chapter 70 state aid is projecting roughly $100 to $125 per student above the town meeting baseline, potentially nearly double the $65-per-student differential that had been assumed. Resident Chris Potts, of 7 Curve Street, used public comment to allege that Chair Michelle Kirkby approached him at a district-wide community meeting the previous week and indicated his presence was inappropriate, and that a police officer subsequently entered and observed the event, though Potts said no one formally asked him to leave and that Marsden had welcomed him. The committee meets again June 12, when a budget update tied to Monday's town vote and a strategic plan review are on the agenda; a record $97,000 in scholarships was awarded to the senior class, Marsden told the committee, calling it "an incredible job our community does."
