School Committee · Meeting of September 17, 2026

Medfield schools adopt a Protect Act policy on federal agents and formalize a finance hire. The School Committee voted unanimously to approve Policy ACL, governing school responses to police and federal agents engaged in civil immigration enforcement, after Financial Secretary Michael McCabe pushed to add a requirement that the committee itself be notified of any incident. Members also voted 4-0 to formally appoint Kristyn DeDonato as director of finance and operations, closing a gap from a June vote that authorized talks but not a formal hire.

The district's FY25 audit turned up five findings, DeDonato reported, "we've never had five" in a typical year, with four tied to turnover in the town accountant's office. The consent agenda included $3,362.16 in donations, including $2,200 from Jennifer Troutman for a student music trip to Orlando. Principal Robert Parga said a 2.2-position staffing cut has pushed some high school electives to 27-29 students and limited course transfers.
