School Committee · Meeting of October 1, 2026

Medfield survey finds teen alcohol and gambling use outpacing the region. Wellness Department Chair Marissa Kelleher and SEL Director Dave Worthley told the School Committee that current high school alcohol use sits at 31.9 percent versus a 17.7 percent Metro West average, with 26.3 percent of drinking students accessing alcohol at home with parental knowledge. Worthley flagged unregulated "prediction market" apps as a new gambling risk, calling a cell phone "a gateway to many things." The committee separately approved the FY28 budget calendar unanimously, setting a December 17 first budget draft and a January 31 town submission deadline, and left a first-reading fight over "equal" versus "equitable" media-access language in its KDD policy unresolved after resident Chris McCupot urged restoring the original wording.
