Medfield Zoning Board approved its first accessory dwelling unit permit under the town's new bylaw. The board unanimously approved Teresa James's application to convert a pre-existing garage and barn at 67 Harding Street into a 1,160-square-foot handicapped-accessible residential unit. Chair John J.
McNicholas, Associate Member Kristine Barton, and Associate Member Jared Gustafson found the proposal complied with all requirements under Section 300-14.17(E) of the town zoning bylaw, determining the ADU fell below the 1,200-square-foot maximum for local ADUs. The board declined to require a new certified survey, finding the conversion would not alter the existing building footprint or lot coverage.
