MEDFIELD — Warrant Committee approves $25,000 reserve transfer for fire equipment. The committee unanimously authorized the transfer to purchase a used ladder truck from Westwood, contingent on unavailable insurance funding, after hearing Fire Chief DeKing describe the urgency of equipment replacement and the looming November 2028 expiration of federal SAFER grant funding that currently covers four firefighter positions. Chair Stephen Callahan led comprehensive reviews of ten municipal departments' FY2027 budgets; Town Administrator Kristine Trierweiler presented a Select Board-ranked restoration list of $334,000 in identified cuts and introduced an Operating Budget Stabilization Fund concept to address structural gaps without requiring consecutive override votes.
School leadership will present budget priorities February 24.
