MEDFIELD — Transfer Station and Recycling Committee unanimously approves $1,300 compost-bin purchase and supplies. The committee, co-chaired by Lily Fayerweather and Barbara Meyer, voted 6-0 to buy 20 bins from Recycling Dividends at $65 each and maintain a $30-per-bin subsidy. The committee also approved $500 for bolts and materials to prepare the SWAP facility, which opens April 29.
Members discussed recruitment of parent volunteers to staff school-based compost initiatives and raised concerns about year-to-year inconsistency in programming. Transfer Station usage reached 3,434 households, or 76 percent of Medfield, as of March; building repairs to steel walls from loader damage are underway.
