School Committee · Meeting of June 11, 2026
Medfield School Committee approves $609K in budget reductions for fiscal 2027. Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Marsden presented the reduction package, which eliminates elementary Mandarin instruction at Dale Street and Wheelock schools, a high school social studies position, an English teaching position, and reductions to paid committee work and professional development.
The reductions support the district's previously approved 3.64 percent budget increase. The Committee also unanimously approved two student field trips—a Science Department excursion to Iceland for 15-20 students at $4,838 per student, and an Art Department trip to Italy for 20-30 students at approximately $4,650 per student—and authorized installation of a Bay State Books collection bin at Dale Street School.
