School Committee schedules vote on $221,000 literacy program from free cash

If the FY27 budget override fails, elementary class sizes in grades two through five would each increase by one teacher per grade to 23-26 students, while secondary reductions could eliminate electives, AP courses, and disrupt the middle school cluster model. The Committee rescheduled its March 12 meeting to March 26 to align with the Warrant Committee's budget timeline. The Committee also heard from state legislators Senator Rebecca Rausch, Representative Marcus Vaughn, and Representative Josh Tarsky on cell phone policies, Proposition 2 1/2 constraints, special education funding pressures, and support for the Dale Street School MSBA project.
