School Committee approves tuition hikes for preschool and full-day kindergarten
School Committee · Meeting of February 5, 2026
Medfield schools approve tuition hikes to close a budget gap and preserve teacher jobs. The School Committee voted unanimously February 5 to raise full-day preschool tuition from $7,230 to $9,000 and restore full-day kindergarten tuition from $2,750 to $3,500, generating an estimated $174,570 in additional revenue, according to Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Marsden.
The increases will fund approximately two kindergarten teaching positions and help offset escalating health insurance costs that have risen 15 to 18 percent this year. The district plans to offer 5 to 10 percent tuition reductions for families unable to pay full rates through Medfield Outreach, and the Committee requested a presentation in March on additional fee options including bus charges for grades 7 to 12 and potential parking fees.
