Medfield School Committee approves solar-funded roof at Blake Middle School and new K-5 literacy curriculum. The Committee unanimously voted to sign a Statement of Interest allowing the district to pursue a 1.12 million dollar roof replacement funded through federal renewable energy tax credits and energy sales under a 20-year municipal off-take agreement, with all maintenance costs borne by the system owner. The Committee also unanimously approved Bookworms as the district's new K-5 literacy program following a pilot that garnered teacher survey scores averaging 9 out of 10.
Separately, Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Marsden presented an FY27 budget update showing the Warrant Committee has proposed a 1.26 percent increase, requiring the district to cut approximately 1.7 million dollars through elimination of 16.28 full-time equivalent teaching positions and program adjustments, raising class sizes to 23-25 in lower elementary and potentially 25-30 at the high school.
