Council on Aging approves shelter event, plans program review

MEDFIELD — Council on Aging approves Animal Shelter event, flags Tax Work-Off concerns. The board unanimously approved the Medfield Animal Shelter's building use on March 1 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., with board member Robert Heald volunteering to manage facility access. Council members heard significant resident complaints about December 25 changes to the Tax Work-Off Program that eliminated tax-work eligibility for hours at the Medfield Animal Shelter, the Friends of Stable Island yard sale, and HESSCO Meals on Wheels drivers.
Director Sarah Hanifan reported 2025 served 1,484 seniors across 26,349 visits and welcomed 253 new participants. The board scheduled a program-review discussion for February 4 and invited Town Assessor Yvonne Remillard to the March meeting to clarify eligibility policy.
